ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — An attorney for an Aberdeen man accused of killing an infant has requested a new judge in the case.

Defense attorney Josh Finer declined comment to the American News on his reasoning. Prosecutor Chris White said he didn't know what prompted the request.

Finer is one of the attorneys representing 26-year-old Myron Touche Jr. Touche faces murder and manslaughter charges in the December death of a weeks-old baby who had head trauma. A jury could find him guilty of either charge, or acquit him. Authorities have not identified the child.

Touche remains in custody. His scheduled initial court appearance on Thursday was postponed because of the request for a different judge.
