DEADWOOD, S.D. (AP) — Officials in Deadwood want to look closer at how long certain areas are dedicated for motorcycle parking around the time of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

The Black Hills Pioneer reports the Deadwood City Commission has given approval at least the last two years to a chamber of commerce request to dedicate two areas to free motorcycle parking.

A motion was made by Jim Van Den Eykel and seconded by Gary Todd to reduce parking on Main Street and in the Interpretive Center parking lot from two weeks to one week.

Mayor Chuck Turbiville and commissioner Dave Ruth voted against the motion. Turbiville suggested it might be appropriate to talk with chamber officials and suggested deferring the issue to the commission's next meeting.
