ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) - The National Weather Service says storms that caused widespread damage across central and northeastern South Dakota last Friday packed straight-line winds and at least two tornadoes.

The agency says two brief tornado touchdowns were confirmed - about 8 miles northwest of Miller and about 2 miles northwest of Carpenter. A weather service team is still assessing damage.

Widespread tree and home damage has been reported in the Lake Poinsett and Watertown areas. Sixty-three-year-old Deborah Larson, of Sioux Falls, was killed when winds damaged her Lake Poinsett mobile home.
