Craig Morgan, country star, Army veteran and television host, can now add another title to his resume: business owner. The “International Harvester” singer will soon be opening Gallery at Morgan Farms in Dickson, Tenn., his home of the last 17 years.

According to the Tennessean, Gallery at Morgan Farms will sell “products from reclaimed, re-purposed, and recycled materials.” Each item will be personalized with a note from Morgan’s wife Karen, explaining the item’s significance.

Morgan began work on the business as a way to deal with the death of his 19-year-old son, Jerry Greer, last year. After a water-tubing accident on July 10 last summer, Greer’s body was recovered from Kentucky Lake following an extensive search. He had recently graduated from Dickson County High School and planned to play football for Marshall University in the fall.

“After Jerry’s accident, we started doing things to help us as far as coping mechanisms go,” Morgan tells the Tennessean. “For me, it was messing in the shop with wood. I was just cutting on wood and staying busy. I’ve always enjoyed working with wood, and it was very therapeutic for me. I felt like I had this attachment that I couldn’t get doing anything else – with Jerry.”

The result of that work will be Gallery at Morgan Farms. The business is housed in a 104-year-old, 6,550-square-foot building in downtown Dickson. Morgan expects it to open within a week or so, and he’s feeling cautiously optimistic.

“I’m excited about it,” he says. “But just worried because I’m going to have to make more stuff!”
