Country Music Hall of Famer Jean Shepard Has Died At Age 82

Country Music Hall of Famer Jean Shepard has passed away at the age of 82.

A member of the Grand Ole Opry for more than six decades, Shepard was in many ways a pioneer in country music. At a time when it was, to say the least, difficult for solo female artist's to get played and recognized in country music, she along with artist's like Kitty Wells and Patsy Montana, blazed the trail.

With a total of 73 songs on the country music chart, Shepard released some 24 studio albums and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1955.

The Tennessean published the Jean Shepard story upon learning of here death on Sunday, September 25th.

Shepard topped the chart in 1953 with 'A Dear John Letter', her duet smash with Ferlin Husky, which sold over a million records and also became a Top 5 pop music hit.
