(AP) - It's a trap that who listens to Bob Dylan music can fall into: trying to mimic the phrasing and style of the legendary singer.

So, when Charlie Daniels set out to do an album featuring covers of 10 Dylan songs, he had one request of his producer: don't let him start trying to "do" Dylan. He says while Dylan has had a big effect on his music, he wanted his takes on those songs to sound like him, not like someone pretending to be Dylan.

Daniels says Dylan has been an influence and mentor - he played as a studio musician on Dylan's landmark album "Nashville Skyline" in 1969. He released his own album the following year.
