RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit that an advertising company filed against Rapid City over rules for electronic billboards.

U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Viken says Lamar Advertising failed to prove it's entitled to damages.

The company four years ago challenged regulations for electronic billboards that were approved by voters, claiming the new ordinances amounted to an illegal taking of private property without just compensation.

The case went to trial in November 2014. Viken requested briefs from both sides after its conclusion, and issued his ruling Monday.
