Twenty Sioux Falls Businesses were approached in an undercover test to see if the purchasers would ID their customers.  All twenty businesses passed.

While the most recent alcohol compliance check was Wednesday  December 13, the random tests are ongoing with the goal to protect the young people of our community according to police.

In the event an employee does sell to an underage patron during a random check, the employee is issued a fine.  The business manager or owner is then summoned to appear before the Sioux Falls City Council to explain what went wrong, how the employee was reprimanded, and what steps were taken to ensure the mistake does not happen again.

Should multiple infractions or failure to correct the situation occur, the business would be subject to possibly losing their liquor license.
