Cinco de Mayo is usually celebrated on May 5, but that didn't stop thousands of people from coming out to Falls Park in Sioux Falls to celebrate the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta on Saturday.

The family friendly event celebrated it's 8th year with lots and lots of food choices, vendor booths, raffles, a chihuahua fashion show, photo booth and more.

Event organizer Sister Janet Horstman told KDLT News the “Cinco de Mayo Fiesta" allows people to celebrate the cultural gifts and heritage of the Latino people in our community.

“I think it's important to recognize the diversity that's present in our community and also to get more of a flavor and a sense of what those different cultures are,” said Sister Horstman.

Sister Horstman said money raised through the event will go "The Presentation Sisters at Caminando Juntos" to promote human rights for Latinos and educating people through English classes and citizenship preparation.
