RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — A Rapid City church that drew the ire of neighbors three years ago with a rodeo event now is seeking city approval for a motorcycle show.

Neighbors of the Dove Christian Center in 2013 unsuccessfully fought the plans for the rodeo, saying it would disrupt the neighborhood. The city allowed the event, and it resulted in a sheep getting loose and roaming the area for about a month before being caught.

Now, the church is proposing a motorcycle event next month, and neighbors are once again protesting. Mike Quasney tells the Rapid City Journal that the event would be a better fit for an arena or fairgrounds — not a residential area.

Pastor Timothy Stuen says the event will be safe and won't damage or disrupt private property.
