Child’s First Bowling Trophy
My son, Mark Jr., has become interested in bowling. It must run in the family as his grandpa was a full fledged bowler and his dad was a bowler at one time.
Trophies are forever. Dad, Mark Sr., for example, still has the one he got for having the high game of the year in 1980. Grandpa Milton Tassler had an entire wall full of trophies dating back to 1967.
Well now Mark Jr. has started a collection of his own. He was awarded a trophy for his first ever strike. A trophy at age 4 is pretty exciting.
He got this memory of a lifetime at Sport Bowl in Sioux Falls, SD. And presenting the trophy is non other than Sport Bowl’s owner Dave Parker.
Dave is a masterful bowling alley operator. He has owned the top bowling alley of Sioux Falls since 1988. He has actually been there much longer. Dave began as a dishwasher at the establishment 43 years ago.
This inspiration to a child being displayed here is nothing new for Parker. He has done a large amount of work with kids over the years.
Dave is proud of his youth bowling league that he runs on Saturday mornings. Children as young as 4 years old are included. Let’s keep in mind that Sport Bowl has plenty of league action as this is where many of the top bowlers compete in league action in Sioux Falls.
As far as for me and my family, we love going there. We go for open bowling every Friday afternoon. The lanes are perfect, the food is outstanding and the people from Mr. Parker right on down treat you so good it’s unbelievable. Dave unexpectedly presenting my son a trophy here is a classic example of that.
