Charlie Daniels Hospitalized for Pacemaker Implant, Pneumonia
Country legend Charlie Daniels is expected to remain hospitalized until Friday as he recovers from pneumonia and a pacemaker implant to regulate his heart rate. The singer was admitted to a Nashville area hospital on Monday (March 25). He says he hadn’t been feeling well.
“I am thankful the doctors found the problem and were able to implant a pacemaker to get my heart rate regulated,” Daniels said in a statement. ”I am feeling so much better and looking forward to spending Easter with my family.”
All shows through April 11 have been canceled, as the singer will spend the next two weeks recovering at home. This includes a performance at Middle Tennessee State University as part of the World Outreach Church Easter service, as well as shows in Englewood, N.J. on April 5 and Newark, Ohio on April 6.
Daniels gave no indication of his surgery or illness on his Twitter page, where he frequently keeps fans up to date on what he’s up to and thinking. His family is asking for thoughts and prayers for the Grand Ole Opry member as he recovers.
