BURKE, S.D. (AP) — The state's attorney in Charles Mix County is facing a drunken driving charge in Gregory County.

The Daily Republic newspaper reports that 54-year-old Scott Podhradsky made a stop in Burke on Monday while traveling on a motorcycle. Authorities say Podhradsky somehow ended up beneath the bike at a motel, and failed a blood-alcohol test.

Podhradsky acknowledged driving drunk to The Associated Press and called it a "colossal" mistake.

He faces a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence. The maximum punishment is a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
