Charles Haan Lawsuit to be on Ballot Dismissed

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A circuit judge was dismissed a lawsuit brought by a Watertown man seeking to be on the ballot as candidate for South Dakota's lone U.S. House seat.

South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announced the dismissal of the lawsuit filed by Charles Haan against Secretary of State Jason Gant.

Jackley says the Circuit Court found that Gant followed the law, and therefore, Haan's name will not be on the ballot.

Incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Kristi Noem is being challenged by Democrat Corinna Robinson.

Haan filed a lawsuit in 2013 against Noem alleging she had breached the oath of office by among other reasons failing to "stop the implementation" of the nation's new health care law.
