LAKE ANDES, S.D. (AP) — Authorities say an 18-year-old South Dakota man caused about $50,000 in damage to a Lake Andes grain elevator over the weekend.

Hazen Winckler is facing five charges, including burglary and intentional damage to property. He was arrested Saturday at the Lake Andes Coop Elevator.

The Charles Mix County Sheriff's Office responded to a burglary alarm at the elevator shortly after 8 p.m. Sheriff Randy Thaler says they found Winckler in the office area "rummaging through cabinets."

Officials say they concluded that Winckler caused over $50,000 worth of damage to computer equipment.

Winckler is also being held on a no bond warrant out of Davison County for unrelated charges.
