A roundup of dozens of loose cattle in Aberdeen is stretching into a second day.

Brown County Emergency Management director Scott Meints says about 45 cows got away from a livestock auction on Wednesday.

The American News reports that at least 20 of the animals remained loose overnight.

Hub City Livestock co-owner Rick Hellwig says the cows got loose because a gate on a pen was not chained securely.

The city issued a safety alert Wednesday afternoon to warn people to stay away from the cattle.
