PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Gov. Dennis Daugaard has ordered that flags be lowered to half-staff at the State Capitol twice this week to honor the deaths of two former lawmakers.

Flags will fly at half-staff Wednesday in honor of Frank "Rudy" Henderson, who died Friday at age 84. The Miller native served in the South Dakota Senate for two terms in the 1960s before becoming an associate justice of the state Supreme Court for 15 years.

On Thursday, flags will be lowered in honor of former Rep. Burdette Solum, who also died Friday. He was 85 and a Watertown native.

Both men were veterans of the Korean War who raised big families - Henderson with eight children, and Solum with five.
