ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — Brown County officials are looking for a new voting center ahead of the closure of the Ramada Aberdeen Hotel and Conference Center.

Officials started discussing the importance of finding a new venue this week at an Aberdeen Area League of Women Voters luncheon. Although a decision hasn't been made, Brown County Auditor Maxine Fischer tells the Aberdeen American News that officials have started to consider all of the possible options, including the Dakota Events Center.

Fischer says the new voting center will have to be easily accessible and large enough to accommodate lines of voters.

When the Ramada closes on Oct. 25, Aberdeen will be left with only two established voting centers.

Several other voting centers are scattered throughout the county.
