On April 20, 2018, the Brothers Osborne released their sophomore album, Port Saint Joe. The album, which was recorded in coastal Florida, in a beach house owned by producer Jay Joyce, features 10 tracks, all of which were co-written by duo members John and TJ Osborne.

Each song on Port Saint Joe has a personal connection to the brothers, and while the pair agreed that deciding on a favorite track was tough, John Osborne told The Boot in an interview that one of his favorites is the album's seventh track, "Pushing Up Daisies (Love Alive)." Read on to learn why.

I just love the way that song sounds. It reminds me of my wife, and how much you have to love somebody in order to be with them for the rest of your life. But it was a cool, different way of saying that. Lyrically, it's one of my favorite songs that we wrote for the record, and sonically, it goes to a place that is really cool and unexpected.

We wrote the song with Kendall Marvel: He goes, "I have this idea for a song called "We Ain't Gettin' Out of This Love Alive."" I thought that was a really cool idea, because I immediately go dark -- I love going negative -- so I thought it was cool to have a song where you're in a relationship and it's so tough and tumultuous that you're going to kill each other.

He said, "No, it's not that. It's that the relationship is so amazing that the only thing that can separate you is death." I was way off! But it was actually a much cooler twist that way, because it's an amazing way to say "We'll be together forever."

We had so much fun writing that song, and we took it to a place in the guitar solo that drifts away from the normal chord changes and the normal sounds; we went slightly Allman Brothers with it. We wanted to take it to a new place, instead of just playing the same chords as you would in the chorus over the guitar solo. It's also just a really easy song to listen to, and I think it takes you to a good spot, mentally.
