Brooks & Dunn scored a No. 1 hit straight out of the box when they released their debut single to country radio. "Brand New Man" reached No. 1 on Sept. 7, 1991.

Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks had both pursued solo careers in Nashville to some success, with both scoring cuts as songwriters. But they didn't break through as artists until Tim Dubois at Arista Records put them together, reportedly somewhat at their reluctance.

The duo worked with songwriter Don Cook and producer Scott Hendricks to produce their debut album, Brand New Man, and collaborated with Cook on the title song, which they released as the lead single from the project on June 10, 1991. "Brand New Man" gave Brooks & Dunn their first No. 1 hit less than three months later, and that was just the beginning.

The duo went on to score three more back-to-back No. 1 hits with "My Next Broken Heart," "Neon Moon" and "Boot Scootin' Boogie," and "Lost and Found" also reached No. 6 from the debut album. Brand New Man reached No. 3 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and went on to sell six million copies. Brooks & Dunn would become the top-selling country duo of all time and one of the most awarded acts in the genre during a run that lasted all the way until 2009, when they announced they were going their separate ways.

Brooks & Dunn played what was billed as the final show of their career in Nashville in 2010, but it didn't quite turn out that way. The duo reunited in 2015 for a Las Vegas residency with Reba McEntire billed as Reba, Brooks & Dunn: Together in Vegas, which has been extended through 2017.
