BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) — Brookings has hired an assistant city manager.

City Manager Jeff Weldon tells the Brookings Register that Kevin Catlin, a management analyst in the Tulsa, Oklahoma, city manager's office, accepted the position with Brookings.

Weldon says Catlin's experience with the City of Tulsa will be immensely valuable to Brookings. Much of that experience included managing special projects, conducting research, overseeing technology operations and programs aimed at improving operational efficiencies.

He also served as part of Tulsa's collective bargaining team and assisted the public safety departments with several reform measures.

Weldon said he expects Catlin to start in February, though the exact timing is dependent on relocation issues.
