Branch Grinders in Sioux Falls Finish Work

A contractor hired by the City of Sioux Falls has finished grinding and removing the tree branches that were left at the drop-off sites after the three-day ice storm in April, and they got it all done a full month ahead of schedule.

City officials say TFR Enterprises finished its work on the final site, on East Chambers Street, on Tuesday, September 3, after grinding 44,700 tons of debris.

Also, City crews and Mueller Pallets ground another 10,000 tons of branch debris, bringing the total from the storm to nearly 55,000 tons.

Meanwhile, a contractor is grinding tree stumps left from the storm on public property and street rights-of-way, and that work is expected to take until early October.

Drainage area cleanup is underway as well.
