PIERRE - Pierre school district employees could see their first ongoing pay hike in three years if a contract is approved by the school board.

Superintendent Kelly Glodt tells KCCR radio that an agreement was reached after a meeting last week and it was ratified by teachers. The board meets Wednesday morning in special session.

Glodt says the tentative contract includes a salary increase for teachers but he wouldn't say how much they would get. He says if the contract is approved by the board, he will request a similar increase for other district employees.

The district during the past two years has provided one-time bonuses to district employees, but there's been no ongoing raise.

Glodt says an increase in student enrollment and more state aid has provided for extra funds.
