BLACK HAWK, S.D. (AP) — A firefighter with the Black Hawk Fire Department was injured while helping battle a blaze that destroyed a home in the city.

KEVN-TV reports that part of a ceiling fell on the firefighter Sunday morning, and he was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening. He wasn't immediately identified.

The family who owned the home is fine, but two pets died in the fire. There was no immediate word on the cause. The Red Cross is helping the family.
