Billy Ray Cyrus has spoken openly about his daughter Miley's engagement to 'Hunger Games' actor Liam Hemsworth in the past. In fact, it was him who started that whole "three weddings" rumor. But now, as the media questions and examines the status of the young couple's rocky relationship, Cyrus has gone on record to admit he doesn't know what's going on with the pair.

While promoting his book 'Hillbilly Heart,' Cyrus admitted that while penning the memoir, he didn't detail the engagement, which was announced in June 2012. Since he wasn't sure the nuptials would actually take place, he didn't want to crystallize them.

"I know as I was writing the book I wanted to keep that particular moment as open-ended as possible," the singer and father explains. "I didn't know the answer. They're young. They're kids. The great news is, they're great friends. They're really, really good friends. If you end up getting married, that's your business too, you know?"

Miley Cyrus and her actor fiancé have been dogged by split rumors as of late. She was seen sans engagement ring, and Hemsworth escaped to his native Australia for a chunk of time. Speculation that something was afoot ran rampant. While his little girl indirectly shot down rumors of trouble in paradise, the country singer remains uncertain about the relationship and is saying more than she is.

"I don't know, I really don't," he confesses. "I play it by ear and I know whatever is meant to be, that's the way it's going to happen."

Hemsworth's family also had similar questions about the nuptials. Neither side seems to truly know what's going on with the pair, but Papa Cyrus is being especially vocal about his confusion.
