SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) — Longtime Belle Fourche cowboy and entertainer Jerry LaRue Olson is the newest member of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum's Rodeo Hall of Fame.

The Black Hills Pioneer reports the 80-year-old Olson was inducted Saturday at the museum in Oklahoma City.

Olson entered his first rodeo in bareback riding and tie-down roping in 1947. He saw greater success in steer wrestling — making the National Finals Rodeo in 1969. Olson also made a name for himself as a rodeo clown, and he and his father, LaRue Olson, trained buffalo and horses to perform in the arena.

Olson was inducted into the Casey Tibbs South Dakota Rodeo Center in 1994, the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2001 and the South Dakota Hall of Fame in 2004.
