Suzanne Geppert, a Fort Pierre, South Dakota beef producer, was recently named the new executive director of the South Dakota Beef Industry Council (SDBIC).

Geppert, most recently the resource development director of the South Dakota 4-H Foundation, will take over SDBIC's executive director position on November 2, 2015.

In her role, Geppert will be responsible for implementing the state's beef promotion, research and education programs under the guidance of the SDBIC board of directors.

She follows Ron Frederick who resigned as executive director effective September 30, 2015.

Newly elected SDBIC President Wayne Tupper said Geppert brings an excellent background and valuable skill set to the position. A graduate from South Dakota State University with a degree in Family and Consumer Science Education, Geppert has taught in South Dakota schools and is a co-owner of Geppert Cattle Company with her husband, Rodney.

"Suzanne grew up on a farm and continues to be connected to the beef production business," explained Tupper, owner of Kimball Livestock Exchange in Kimball, South Dakota. "She understands the challenges that South Dakota beef producers face as well as the need to effectively communicate to them the impact of their checkoff dollar investment."
