The next time you're packing for an overnight trip, you might want to reach for your brightest colored piece of luggage. It could help keep the bedbugs away.

According to a study done at the University of Florida, bedbugs have favorite colors, just like flies and other insects. They really like dark colors, and dislike bright colors.

Researchers placed bedbugs in petri dishes containing different colored tents. What they noticed is the bugs moved towards the tents that were black and red instead of white, yellow or green.

So the next time you have to leave town on an overnight trip, grab the brightest bag you can find in the closet.  As my Grandma used to say, "Better safe than sorry."
