A recent study suggests the key to happiness is more about doing things for others than doing things for ourselves.

These new studies and the video above are not a new concept, but they are a good reminder of some action we can take for others and ourselves.

Getting out of ourselves is sometimes the only thing we can do for ourselves.

We all find ourselves in situations we can do nothing about, we get stuck in life, face a problem that seems to have no end, or just have an unpleasant cloud of funk stuck above us.

Sometimes the only way to get unstuck, and to move the cloud of despair is to give someone a hand. It might not solve what we are facing, but it can be a positive distraction from our problems.

I've found that right alongside self-care, and self-compassion, when we find ways to help people, it often benefits the person helping just as much if not more than who is receiving the help.

Helping others has inspired some great quotes throughout history, and a great quote like Paying it Forward inspired a movie.

“A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.”
