Authorities: Woman Drowns in Eastern South Dakota Lake

MADISON, S.D. (AP) — Authorities say a woman has drowned in Lake Madison in eastern South Dakota.

Lake County Sheriff Tim Walburg says the woman's friends reported that she fell out of a boat and into the lake about 4:30 PM Sunday. Her body was found about 8:30 PM.

Walburg says the woman wasn't wearing a lifejacket. He says her name would likely be released Monday, pending notification of her family.

Lake Madison is about 40 miles northwest of Sioux Falls.
