Authorities Say Man Killed Near Wagner in Burglary
WAGNER, S.D. (AP) — Authorities say a 56-year-old man has died after two males allegedly invaded a house on the Yankton Sioux Indian Reservation in southeastern South Dakota, killed the man inside the home and stole some items.
FBI Special Agent E.K. Wilson tells the Yankton Press and Dakotan the Thursday night shooting near Wagner is being treated as a home invasion resulting in a homicide.
Wilson says the victim, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at about 11:10 p.m. Thursday.
Wilson says the FBI is investigating the case because it occurred on an American Indian reservation. He says the suspects apparently stole the victim’s vehicle, which was later abandoned.
