The Sioux Falls Stockyards was part of the Sioux Falls economy for over 90 years before closing. And now a reunion is taking place that everyone is welcome to attend.

It's taking place Tuesday, August 9th at 10:00 AM. It is being held at Schuneman Equipment Company in Garretson, South Dakota.

Jim Wooster, pictured, began working at the Stockyards in 1962. Wooster says, "It was a huge driver of industry and commerce not only in South Dakota, but northwest Iowa, southwest Minnesota and all of South Dakota.  It was big."

In the early 70's, the Sioux Falls Stockyards was the largest auction barn in the country, bringing in buyers, truckers and a lot of money to the economy.

Jim invites any and all shippers, truckers, customers and former employees to gather for a bit of reminiscing. You will also get a look at the plans for the Stockyards Ag Heritage Barn (Museum) and the 3.5 acre Park Plaza which will be located on the former Stockyard property.

Please bring old photos or items from The Stockyard days.
