The Sioux Falls School Board verified that enough signatures were gathered to bring the school start date issue to a vote.

As the board met Tuesday the first order of business after approval of the previous meeting’s minutes was confirming the outcome of the petition drive that started in April after the board set the calendar for the next three years.

Petition circulators want the school calendar changed to start the fall session closer to Labor Day and were unable to reach a compromise with the School Board.

The vote on the matter will occur in the spring of 2015 in conjunction with the next School Board election.
