The South Dakota Department of Transportation is getting ready to close another section of SD 19 in Lake County.

The DOT says a 2.5 mile stretch of Highway 19 will be closed on Tuesday, September 2 for grading and shoulder-widening from the intersection of SD Highway 34 to 237th Street (Walkers Point).

Local traffic will have access, through traffic on SD 19 will have a detour on US 81 and cross traffic will be allowed where it's posted.

The first phase of the project caused Highway 19 to be closed to through traffic in May from SD 38 at Humboldt to 237th Street.

The DOT says the $14.6 million Highway 19 reconstruction includes grading, resurfacing, drainage improvement, shoulder-widening and improvement of site distances.

The overall date for completion is November 26, and Loiseau Construction of Flandreau is the prime contractor.
