Annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Session in Pierre

Hundreds of people from across the country are attending the annual Governor's Conference on Tourism this week in Pierre.  Teri Schmidt of the Sioux Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau is one of them.

"It's a conference of all the visitor industries throughout South Dakota talking about marketing, education and trends.  We are working to bring more tourists to South Dakota."

Right now, Teri says tourism is big business for the state.

"Tourism is hot in South Dakota.  We are well known as a destination.  The tourism business in the state and Sioux Falls is growing every year.'

This year's theme at the Governor's Conference on Tourism is "Celebrate the Journey."
