RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A man accused of killing a 10-month-old boy at a home on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation has pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder and felony child abuse and neglect.

Authorities allege that Michael Dubray, of Allen, caused significant head trauma to the child with a blunt object, resulting in the child's death in a home in Oglala on May 30. Dubray also is accused of mistreating the child.

The Rapid City Journal reports that Dubray entered his pleas Wednesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica Duffy. He will remain in custody until his trial, which is scheduled to begin Aug. 6.

Dubray faces life in prison if convicted of first-degree murder.
