At the National NAFB Convention in Kansas City, we had the great pleasure to chat with AgriBank's Chief Executive Officer. Here's Bill York of St. Paul, MN.

We opened with a big topic. We talked about farmland values.

Bill says: 'We've seen a strong run up in farmland values over recent years due to strong commodity prices and low interest rates.'

Also pointing out that : 'We are now seeing that strong trend moderate.' 'We expect to see a small increase this year and then stabalize in the near future.'

I also asked Bill how international ag trends are affecting the American farmer. Bill's answer included saying that: 'As we've increased our production, American farmers are more dependent on markets outside this country.'

We went on to discuss feeding a growing world population.
