PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — The South Dakota Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for approximately 580 donated 2012 CRP mid-term management hay bales.

The USDA's Farm Service Agency is allowing producers with 2012 CRP mid-term management hay to donate the baled residue to the department rather than destroy it.

Producers in counties affected by the autumn blizzard are eligible for the donated hay. Submitting an application does not guarantee distribution.

Agriculture Secretary Lucas Lentsch says the department appreciates the South Dakota FSA office helping to send the bales to producers in need.

Baled residue from participating producers will be available in limited quantities.
