SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — A 23-year-old man convicted of being an accessory in a fatal Sioux City shooting has been sentenced and released.

Ricardo Vital on Thursday was sentenced to 300 days in jail but was credited with the time because he's been in custody since last fall. He'd pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of being an accessory after the fact, the Sioux City Journal said.

Vital admitted that he helped clean up inside a house where Martin Castellanos shot and killed Adrian Rojas-Hernandez last October. According to court documents, Vital disposed of bloody clothing, bedding and other evidence. Rojas-Hernandez's partially burned body was found in South Dakota ditch.

Last week Castellanos, 20, pleaded guilty to lowered charges and was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
