ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — An Aberdeen man sang some 1,700 songs in succession in an attempt to break a world record.

Brad Carman tells the Aberdeen American News that he won't find out for another year or two if he will get the title of Guinness World Record holder for longest singing marathon.

He sang at the Eagles Club in Aberdeen for just over 109 hours over more than four and a half days in an effort to raise money for two friends suffering from medical ailments.

Carman says he's been told it takes about 12 weeks to review the application for a world record, and it will be some time after that until the footage of him singing for nearly a week is reviewed.
