9-1-1 Call Leads to Pot Bust in Sioux Falls
SIOUX FALLS – Two Sioux Falls men are charged after a weekend incident that began at a hotel in the southwest area of the city.
Police spokesman Sam Clemens says officers were called around 3:00 a.m. Sunday to a 9-1-1 hangup at a hotel on South Carolyn Avenue.
Clemens says the situation turned out OK, but as officers were leaving, they smelled marijuana coming from another room, and he says someone inside the room jumped out a window, ran to the parking lot, jumped into a vehicle and left.
Sioux Falls Police Department Spokesman Sam Clemens:
Clemens says officers later stopped the suspect vehicle at 22nd and Covell, where the passenger took off running but was caught.
Clemens says 20-year-old Justin Urquhart of Sioux Falls was charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute, as well as possession of paraphernalia.
The driver, 21-year-old Zachary Lovaas of Sioux Falls, was charged with possession of marijuana and parapharnalia and possession of a concealed weapon.
Clemens says Urquhart also had $7,000 in cash in his pocket.
