5-Year-Old South Dakota Boy Drowns In Lake

aberdeennews.com is reporting that a five-year-old drowned at a Wylie Park Sunday afternoon.

Brown County Coroner Mike Carlsen confirmed the death and said family members have been notified. Funeral arrangements for Michael Patrick McBride of Aberdeen are pending with the Carlsen Funeral Home.

Aberdeen Police officer John Kirnan said the incident is under investigation and more information will be released today.

Police, Aberdeen Fire and Rescue and the Brown County Sheriff's Office responded to Wylie Lake about 3:30 p.m.

Parks Director Doug Johnson said the paddle boat operation was closed following Sunday's incident.

Aberdeen officers weren't allowing swimming at the lake, also known as Lake Minne-Eho, immediately after the drowning.
