With St. Patty's Day coming up how about some interesting facts concerning one of the biggest party days in the United States?  For example do you know these things?

1)-St. Patrick wasn't Irish.  Turns out that St. Patrick wasn't Irish at all.  St. Patty was the son of a couple of Roman's and born in 385 AD in Scotland or Wales.

2)-St. Patrick was said to have driven all the snakes out of Ireland.  But history indicates that there weren't snakes in the cold island country.  The thought is that the “snakes” were representative of the distasteful Pagans that were cause the locals some headaches.

3)-Guess what, Guinness is not the top selling beer on St. Patty's day.  Here are the Top-5 selling beers in the U.S.

1-Miller Genuine Draft / Budweiser
2-Coors
3-Miller Lite
4-Dos Equis
5-Guinness

4)-Like drinking Green Beer?  Well, adding food coloring to a fine golden brew is not only a nasty thing to do, it's bad for you.  Food coloring has been found to cause hyperactivity and is linked to asthma and cancer in adults.  Stick to the naturally colored suds.

5)-Best thing to eat to help with your day after hangover, "Burnt Toast".  According to WebMD:

Carbon in the charred part of the toast filters the impurities. In fact, people who come into hospital emergency rooms with alcohol poisoning get a potent carbon slurry pumped into their stomachs for the same reason. The burnt toast is a much more moderate version of the same remedy.

A new hangover helper called "Chaser: Freedom From Hangovers" also contains vegetable carbon and there are claims it can help prevent a hangover by absorbing the elements in beer, wine, and spirits that cause hangovers.

Happy St. Patty's Day!
