I've always been fascinated with Mount Everest and why people risk their lives, at great expense, to try and summit this unforgiving mountain.

An Indian Climber, a 35-year-old Dutch Man, and a 34-year-old Australian woman all have reportedly died from altitude sickness on Everest so far this climbing season .  Two other Indian climbers have been missing since Saturday and presumed dead.

Many other climbers are experiencing frostbite and altitude sickness near the summit.

In 2015 22 climbers were killed after an avalanche on Mount Everest.  This year people appear to be dying not because of natural disaster but because of man caused tragedy.

The Associated Press is reporting that many from the climbing community feel this may be a man-made disaster caused by inexperienced guides, climbers and guiding companies desiring to make money during Everest's short climbing season.

It appears that expedition organizers are in fierce competition for the adventurers dollars and have lowered prices which may be leading to compromises in equipment and experienced guides.

Since Sir Edmond Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay first summited in 1953 over 4,000 climbers have summited Mount Everest.  And over 280 have died trying.

As you can see from these pictures on imgur, many of the bodies of those who have perished on Everest still litter the mountain side.
