The South Dakota Highway Patrol has identified the people involved in the fatal crash near Alexandria Thursday afternoon. Three of them were from Omaha and one from Salem.

It was determined that 75 year-old David Wise of Salem was driving a 1995 Chevrolet pickup going east in the westbound lanes. He died at the scene.

Three of the four people in the other vehicle died. Ryan Hrubes, 28, of Omaha was the driver while passengers Theresa Schenzel, 59, and Tyler Schenzel, 54, both of Omaha also died. The lone survivor was 26 year-old Emily Hrubes of Omaha who has serious non-life threatening injuries.

Another vehicle in the vicinity of the accident was struck by debris. The SUV sustained damage but the people were not injured.

KDLT News reports that the Schenzels founded the Hope Center for Kids in the Omaha area in 1998. Ty Schenzel had recently retired as Executive Director.

The crash brought traffic on the interstate to a standstill. Vehicles were diverted onto state Highway 38.
