One reason to love the CMA Awards? They take time to honor some of the unique and fun collaborations that happen during the year. Country artists are always teaming up and working together, and the CMA for Musical Event of the Year celebrates that camaraderie. Whether it's Dierks Bentley teaming up with country-blues artist Elle King or Morgane and Chris Stapleton offering up a phenomenal rendition of a classic children's song, the "musical events" that took place in 2016 are definitely worth celebrating. Which pairing do you think will take home the 2016 CMA Award for Musical Event of the Year?

In May, Bentley debuted the second single from his Black album, and "Different for Girls," delighted fans with its heartfelt message ... not to mention the killer pairing of Bentley and King, who's best known for rock hits such as "Ex's & Oh's." Two months later, when the duo released the song's music video, fans were even more pleased with its black-and-white treatment and Bentley and King's sweet harmonies.

When Luke Bryan and Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town teamed up for "Home Alone Tonight," the collaboration paired two of country music's most distinctive voices with pretty awesome results. It was the first male/female duet of Bryan's career, and he certainly made it count, with a catchy, revenge-fueled hookup song that makes even bad decisions sound good. Will it take home the trophy for Musical Event of the Year?

Also nominated for Musical Event of the Year this year at the 2016 CMA Awards is a pairing of two of country music's biggest stars: Keith Urban tapped fellow icon Carrie Underwood for "The Fighter," off his 2016 Ripcord album, going so far as to rent a studio for her in St. Louis, Mo., and communicate via FaceTime as she cut the vocals. Why? Because -- as Urban tells The Boot -- he knows that even with all of her success so far, Underwood is only just getting started.

Two close friends are also nominated for Musical Event of the Year: Chris Young and Cassadee Pope, for "Think of You." The track was the second single off of Young's I'm Comin' Over album and pulled at the heartstrings of anyone who still pines for a relationship that ended. The music video featured the sweet intersecting of two ex-lovers who can't seem to stay apart, and "Think of You" quickly earned Young his second No. 1 single from his fifth studio album.

Last but certainly not least in the list of those nominated for Musical Event of the Year is the collaboration between two amazing singers who also just happen to be husband and wife. When Morgane and Chris Stapleton put their own Americana spin on "You Are My Sunshine," the traditional children's lullaby became one of the most rock 'n' roll country singles of the year. Whether it was Morgane's soulful vocal prowess (someone give this girl a solo album stat!) or Chris' perfect harmonies and completely killer guitar work, "You Are My Sunshine," made Dave Cobb‘s Southern Family concept album an instant country classic.
