Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift + Blake Shelton Lead 2014 Taste of Country Awards
Time is running out to decide the 2014 Taste of Country Awards winners. With less than three weeks to go, none of the eight, fan-voted categories is turning into a blowout win for Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift or Blake Shelton. Luke Bryan and Tim McGraw are also making strong showings, but it’s the newcomers that are really battling. Hundreds of thousands of votes have been cast, but this contest promises to go all the way to the February 11 deadline.
Below is a recap of all eight categories and the ballots for each award. Numbers quoted are as of Jan. 24. You can vote up to once every hour for your favorite artist, song, album or video. The 2014 Taste of Country Awards will close at 10AM ET on Feb. 11.
New Artist of the Year – This category is the most fiercely contested, and as of now, Danielle Bradbery leads with 32 percent of the vote. Cassadee Pope is second at 26 percent, followed by Florida Georgia Line (23 percent) and Parmalee (eight percent).
Song of the Year – Right now, this is Tim McGraw’s to lose. ‘Highway Don’t Care’ holds 27 percent of the vote, ahead of Carrie Underwood’s 21 percent for ‘Two Black Cadillacs.’ Blake Shelton’s ‘Mine Would Be You’ is third (16 percent) and Lee Brice is fourth with ‘I Drive Your Truck’ (11 percent).
Best Album of the Year – Gary Allan leads in the only category he’s nominated. ‘Set You Free’ holds 34 percent of the vote, followed by Blake Shelton’s ‘Based on a True Story’ at 30 percent and Tim McGraw’s ‘Two Lanes of Freedom’ at 11 percent.
Live Act of the Year – Taylor Swift has 27 percent of the vote, besting Carrie Underwood’s 21 percent and Luke Bryan’s 14 percent. Florida Georgia Line are also doing well with nine percent.
Video of the Year – Chris Young’s ‘Aw Naw’ is pulling away from the field with 33 percent of the vote. The battle for second includes videos for ‘Highway Don’t Care’ (16 percent), ‘Two Black Cadillacs’ (13 percent) and ‘Boys ‘Round Here’ (10 percent).
Best Dressed Artist of the Year – Carrie Underwood leads with 35 percent of the vote, but Taylor Swift is right behind her with 31 percent. Blake Shelton is third, but tops the men with nine percent.
Headline of the Year – The death of George Jones leads this category with 44 percent of voters agreeing it was the most memorable headline of 2013. Luke Bryan winning the Entertainer of the Year award at the ACMs is a close second with 37 percent of the vote.
Most Heartwarming Moment of the Year – Taylor Swift’s phone call with a dying young girl leads this two-headline race. Her moment is currently taking 45 percent of the vote, with Luke Bryan’s dance with a little girl on stage in second with 33 percent.
