Luke Bryan leads the pack of nominees for the inaugural 2014 American Country Countdown Awards.

The country superstar received seven nominations, including Artist and Album of the Year, and two different nods for Digital Song of the Year, for both 'Drink a Beer' and 'Play It Again.'

Florida Georgia Line received six nominations, and Jason Aldean is nominated in four categories, including Artist, Male Vocalist, Song and Digital Song of the Year.

Other top acts nominated include Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley and Lady Antebellum.

While the CMA Awards are voted on by CMA members, and the ACM Awards are determined by a combination vote from industry insiders and fans, the winners in the American Country Countdown Awards will be determined purely by radio airplay and touring statistics from sources like Soundscan, Pollstar and Mediabase.

That model has a dramatic impact on the nominees, since country radio at the moment slants so heavily toward male artists -- especially the so-called "bro country." The nominations slant massively toward male artists, to such a degree that women are barely represented outside of the Female Vocalist category. There are no females at all in the Song, Digital Song or Breakthrough Artist of the Year categories, while Hillary Scott is the sole female in the Artist of the Year category, as part of Lady Antebellum.

'American Country Countdown' is a hugely popular radio show that has aired nationally for more than four decades. This is the first awards show based around the program. The ceremony will take place at the Music City Convention Center in Nashville on Dec. 15, and air live on Fox at 8PM ET.

Florida Georgia Line will host the broadcast, and they are also slated to perform, along with Lambert and Bryan.
