PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A task force in Pierre has narrowed the list of candidates to provide air service to the city.

Bids under the Essential Air Service federal subsidy program were submitted by four carriers: Great Lakes Airlines, Aerodynamics Inc., Boutique Air and Key Lime Air.

The Capital Journal reports a task force has eliminated Boutique Air and Key Lime Air from consideration. The City Commission will recommend either Great Lakes or Aerodynamics to the federal Transportation Department by April 27.

Great Lakes currently serves Pierre but city officials have been unsatisfied with the service. They've been looking for a new carrier since 2014 and at one point chose Aerodynamics. They later soured on that carrier due to concerns over finances and management and obtained federal permission to reopen the bidding process.
