According to a press release from the USDA approximately 167,427 pounds of ground beef products may be contaminated with E. coli.

The recalled meat was processed by All American Meats in Omaha and shipped nationwide.

The ground beef items were produced on Oct. 16th, 2015. The problem was discovered on Oct. 30th when a positive result for E. coli testing was traced back to the establishment.

FSIS and the company are concerned that some product may be frozen and in consumers' freezers.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

E. coli is potentially deadly especially to children under 5 and senior citizens.  Symptoms include dehydration, bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps within two to eight days of exposure to the organism.
